The Girl with All the Gifts

January 05, 2016

Let me start out by saying that this book was nothing like I was expecting, probably because I didn't know what to expect, probably because no one on the internet would tell me what it was freaking about. So I will. This book was semi-terrifying because it makes the zombie apocalypse 150% totally plausible in this reality that we currently live in. If zombies aren't your thing, you probably won't be into this book. Unless you just really want to be sad, in which case, this is your book.

I had a major internal struggle with myself while reading this. I didn't want to keep going because zombies aren't my thing, but when I wasn't reading it, it was all I could think about. I just needed to keep reading, to find out what was going to happen, how they were going to fix it.

Be forewarned, this book does not have a happy ending. This book will break your heart repeatedly as you read about the lot in life this little girl has been dealt. But, as the cover says, it is compelling, intense, well written, a unique story and something I'm glad I read at least once, though I got rid of it after that because I couldn't look at it. Seriously people, freaked me out. I know I'm sending mixed signals here. I'm rather confused about it myself. Read at your own risk I suppose.

p.s. It's the zombie apocalypse, so expect some language. Lots of language.
